Quiet day
The US major stock indices are ending the day mixed:
- The S&P index closed up 2.25 points or +0.08% at 2708. The price remains above the 100 day MA at 2701.64 today. The high reached 2717.49. The low extended to 2703.63
- The NASDAQ rose 14.139 points or 0.19% at 7295.238. The high reached 7319 while the low extended to 7259
- The Dow fell 38.56 points or -0.16% at 24748.07. The index remains below its 100 day MA at 24822.89.
IBM hurt the Dow. It fell -7.61% on disappointing earnings and profit margins.
Banks also suffered again today:
- Citigroup fell -1.06%
- Bank of America fell -1.71%
- J.P. Morgan felt -0.81%
- Wells Fargo felt -0.36%
Big gainers today included:
- Intuitive Surgical up 8.17%
- First Solar up 6.74%
- Continental 4.83%
- Micron of 3.35%
- Home Depot to 23%
- Tesla recovered a bit today rising by 1.97%
