On Friday, the S&P 500 climbed as high as 1813, to a fresh record but the index stumbled late in the day to 1805, down 1 point on the day.
Shortly after the open, the S&P 500 is up 2 points to 1807.
The ISM manufacturing index, at the top of the hour, is the key event on the calendar.
