Markets are anxious....
With the FOMC decision tomorrow, the US government on alert for a potential shut down at the end of the week, the never ending China story line, and somewhat illiquid conditions as the calendar clicks to the end of the year, the price action in US stocks reflected the anxiety with up and down price action.
At the end of the day, the major indices are ending either unchanged, or modestly in the black.
Looking at the the changes and ranges for the US and European indices, the Nasdaq is ending as the biggest gainer of the major indices with a gain of 0.45%. The US indices are on more in the lower half of the day's ranges for the day. The Dow was up over 300 points at the highs and ending up just 85 points. The Nasdaq was up near 100 points and is up just 30 points.
The European indices all ended in negative territory and closed near lows for the day with the Spain's Ibex the worst performer.
