US shut down talks still going on after more delays

It’s a fluid situation in Washington D.C. re the talks on funding the government.

The latest … chronologically:

  • On Saturday the Senate passed an extension of federal spending authority through midnight Wednesday (12.00 a.m. ET on Thursday)
  • Senate leaders, however, have still not reached an agreement to accelerate a vote on a $1.1 trillion spending bill that would fund all government agencies through September 2015 except for the Department of Homeland Security

Later:

  • Democratic and Republican leaders in the Senate struck a deal for a vote on a $1.1 trillion federal spending bill
  • A Senate Democratic leadership aide said procedural and final votes on the measure could come in the next few hours

Everybody ‘knows’ that a deal will be struck and the US will get funded and bumble along. like I said, though … the situation is fluid.
