Concerned about joint statement
The Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer says Trump US/N. Korean statement is very worrisome. Calls the statement:
- So imprecise, and adds
- Trump has given up substantial leverage on North Korea
Of course, you would expect these comments from Schumer. There is an election in November after all.
Whether it is trade or peace negotiations, they take time, and often some compromise. In defense of Schumer, the Pres. calling it a "comprehensive agreement" may be a little ambitious. It was a start, but given the past history, if it ends up as a watershed change in direction from No. Korea, that determination is a long way off. Plus as we know, the Pres. is one to giveth and then taketh away (sometimes just minutes later).
