Nasdaq makes new all time high and closes at a record level
The US major indices are closing with mixed results.
- The Nasdaq continues to outperform the other indices. It closed at a new record, made a new record high today and is up 10.64% on the year. For the day, the index is up 31.40 points or 0.41% at 7637.863
In contrast, the
- S&P index rose 1.93 points today or 0.07% at 2748.80. It is higher by 2.81% on the year
- The Dow fell today by -13.71 points or -0.06% at 24799. For the year, it is up only 0.33%.
The winners today include:
- Twitter. It will be added to the S&P 500 and rose 5.04% on the news
- Amazon rose 1.87% and toyed with the $1700 level (closed at $1696.35)
- Netflix traded at another record high. It rose 1.10% to $365.80
- Mastercard rose 0.85%
- Apple rose 0.77%
- Intuit rose 0.59%
- Microsoft rose 0.51%
Losers included:
- First Solar fell another -5.67%
- Tesla fell -1.89%
- Deutsche Bank remains depressed and fell -1.89%
- Morgan Stanley fell -1.49%
- Bank of America fell -0.88%
- Citigroup fell -0.88%
- Goldman Sachs fell -0.67%
- Intel fell -0.53%
