Big budget miss in June
- May was a deficit of $88B
- April was a surplus of $182B
- Last June was +$6B
- Outlays $429B vs $323B last June
- Receipts $339B vs $330B last June
This looks to be a calendar effect. The April surplus was huge and it's being unwound. A second factor is that payments due to military, veterans and others were accelerated to June because July 1 was on a weekend. Without that, the deficit would have been $51B.
