US jobless claims for the week of June 3rd
The US initial jobless claims come in a touch higher than expectations:
- Jobless claims 245K vs 240K estimate, down 10K from last week.
- 4-week average 242.00 vs 239.75 revised
- The prior week was revised to 255k vs 248K initial reported
- The Continuing claims fell slightly to 1917K vs 1920K est and 1919K last.

The largest increases in initial claims for the week ending May 27 were in:
- California (+4,813),
- Tennessee (+3,528),
- Kansas (+2,408),
- Missouri (+2,314), and
- New York (+1,319),
The largest decreases were in:
- Michigan (-1,496),
- Vermont (-511),
- Oregon (-250),
- Hawaii (-208), and
- North Carolina (-187).
