Stocks tumble to blame
- The US household net worth fell by $-3.73 trillion in the 4th quarter. That is a -3.5% decline from the 3rd quarter of 2018.
- The slide in the US stock market is to blame for the fall. The US stocks bottomed at the end of the December after a precipitous fall.
- US household debt rose 2.9% at an annual rate to $15.6 trillion in the 4th quarter of 2018 after a 3.6% rise in the 3rd quarter
- value of real estate held by US households rose to $25.88 trillion in the 4th quarter. That was up from $25.59 trillion in Q3
The US stocks have recovered in the 1Q which suggests the declines.
