A little bit of background info

Durable goods orders in February jumped a monthly 5.7 percent, following a 3.7 percent decrease in January. But strength was largely in civilian aircraft orders as seen in the transportation component. The transportation component rebounded a sharp 21.8 percent in February after dropping 17.7 percent the prior month. Excluding transportation, durables orders slipped 0.7 percent in February after a 3.0 percent gain the month before. Numbers reflect revisions from the more recent total factory orders report.
