The US construction spending for the month of December came in weaker than expected at -0.2% vs estimates of +0.2%. The prior month remains at +0.9%.

• Private construction rose by 0.2%
• Public construction fell by -1.7% from November
• Private non residential outlays were unchanged.

With Trump expected to increase outlays on infrastructure spending, public spending likely has better days ahead.
