US Commerce Sec. Ross
US commerce secretary Wilbur Ross is on the wires saying:
- Trade deal with EU is real vindication of Trump approach
- Steel and aluminum tariffs will stay in place
- Tromp directed department to continue probe of auto tariffs on EU but not implement anything
- Trump administration wants trade talks with the EU to go faster than NAFTA
- Auto tariff conclusion set to come in a month or so.
The curious comment is the one saying tariffs on steel and aluminum will stay in place. I wonder if that comment is an issue.
The EU said that they would import US goods like soybeans and natural gas. If the US wants a full deal before getting rid of steel and aluminum tariffs, will the EU balk at buying soybeans and natural gas before a deal too?. Time will tell, but at some point, there has to be a level of trust. No?
