US-China trade talks said to be progressing smoothly

A tweet by Global Times' editor-in-chief, Hu Xijin

"Based on what I know, Chile cancelling APEC summit will not affect arrangements of the China-US trade talks. The talks are progressing smoothly and will move forward as planned."

As Adam mentioned yesterday, the APEC summit cancellation merely presents a logistical issue for any signing ceremony between US and China for the "Phase One" trade deal.

It isn't going to detract from the fact that both sides are still on track to formalise the ceasefire in the coming weeks. In case you missed it, lead negotiators will once again be speaking tomorrow so be wary of any headlines before the weekend.
