Reuters reports on the matter, citing speeches seen at the meeting
- Said both parties accused each other of undermining multilateral trade system
- US says China is seeking to "outright steal" technology
- US says it is not acceptable for China to dump its products on US markets
- China says that "reckless actions" by US are the root of current trade system crisis
This very much feeds into the public jabs that we saw on Monday from each countries' trade envoy here: US and China. It's rather peculiar that we're seeing such disputes take place when the two are involved in bilateral talks on trade at the moment.
But hey, it's at the WTO meeting. I mean what else would you expect them to talk about when they're sat down at the same table with no other topics on the agenda. They may voice out their displeasure at the forum, but I wouldn't say that this amounts to a breakdown in bilateral trade talks.
