–Adds Comments On Sources of Future Eurozone Growth
FRANKFURT (MNI) – The European Central Bank Governing Council did
not discuss changes to its key policy rates at its policy meeting
Thursday, said ECB President Mario Draghi.
“We didn’t discuss interest rate changes,” Draghi said in response
to a question from Market News International at a press conference here.
Unveiling somewhat lower projections for Eurozone economic growth,
Draghi said that the recovery was likely to be “very gradual”.
“Where do I see growth? I said that recovery is going to be very
gradual, if not slow,” he said.
“Foreign demand, the very low level of short-term and medium-term
interest rates, the extraordinary improvement in the risk environment —
if it’s to stay — is probably going to be the major factor that we can
count on,” Draghi explained.
