Comments by UK Brexit secretary Dominic Raab in London
- Getting a good deal is by far the most likely outcome with the EU
- Made progress on outstanding separation issues
- But also have to consider alternative and must be ready for that
- If EU does not match UK's ambition and pragmatism, may not reach a deal
- Need to take steps to avoid and mitigate risks from a no-deal Brexit
Raab is speaking as the UK government publishes guidance on what-to-do in the event a no-deal Brexit outcome is reached. The first of the notices are published today while the second batch will be published in September.
The notices are more to reassure businesses and provide some comfort in case things go sour during negotiations.
