UK PM May, in a quick departure from the local issues besieging her and her cabinet says of her visit with Pres. Trump:
- Looks forward to his visit
- The US and UK have a long and deep defence and security relationship
- Relationship has helped to underpin security in Europe and more widely
- Will talk to Trump about trade issues including tariffs
ON Brexit, she adds:
- Brexit will be smooth and orderly
Meanwhile German Chancellor Merkel says:
- We want to have a close relationship with Britain after it leaves the EU
- We will give a common response at 27 to May's Brexit White Paper
- It is good that the latest proposals are now on the table
Finally the Polish PM also in London says:
- Current Brexit negotiations are not easy, but we are satisfied
- Poland wants a very friendly relationship and deal with Britain
Security partnership w/ Britain should remain after Brexit.
