UK says no precedent that ECJ must be given power to enforce and interpret international agreements

More UK Brexit position just published 23 Aug

  • no precedent for European Court of Justice to rule over international agreements between EU and third countries
  • Brexit repeal bill will give pre-Brexit ECJ case law the same binding status in UK courts as decision of UK supreme court
  • British position is that after Brexit rights and obligations of individuals and businesses will be enforced by UK courts, ultimately UK's supreme court
  • will work with EU on design of interim period, inc arrangements for judicial supervision, enforcement and dispute resolution

The latest position comments comes after yesterday's ECJ-related paper

I reckon this hot topic will run and run.
