Police in Leicester have declared a 'major incident' after an explosion and subsequent fire

UK media report a witness:

• "Explosion on or near Hinckley Road in Leicester. Whole house shook, loud bang, lots of smoke. Avoid the area - lots of sirens and no doubt they're closing it off"

Media report its ait's a suspected gas explosion, but details are sparse. Police are asking people to avoid the area. At least six fire engines are at or heading to the scene.
