- Selection of amendments is entirely a matter for the speaker (Bercow)
- Sure that he will want to make sure a wide range of views are considered
- Government position remains that would like to have a second meaningful vote asap
- Doesn't envisage any circumstances where there won't be a second meaningful vote
- Says that meaningful vote will be amendable
- If government is to secure parliament support, changes to the withdrawal agreement will have to be made
That final line is a bit disconcerting considering what the European Commission just reiterated moments ago here. The two parties are basically shooting from two different angles at this point. But I guess for Theresa May it's one step at a time for now. As for the amendments and the vote tomorrow, here's a quick rundown of what they are all about.
The pound continues to fluctuate on the day having recovered a little to 1.3180 against the dollar before coming back down to lows around 1.3150 at the moment.
