Latest data released by Halifax - 7 February 2019
- Prior +2.2%; revised to +2.5%
- House prices +0.8% vs +1.5% 3m/y expected
- Prior +1.3%
A rather sharp drop in house prices to start the year - second time that has happened in the past three years - but of note house prices haven't really moved by much over the past year with annual growth of just 0.8%. This very much ties into the tune that the housing market continues to be dragged through a period of softness as Brexit uncertainty continues to weigh on the UK economy.
