According to an unnamed UK official, cited by Bloomberg
- Government accepts it must put a different Brexit plan to parliament
- Government to persuade MPs not to back Cooper amendment
- Says that government is against the Cooper amendment to delay Brexit
Yvette's Cooper amendment is basically calling for a change to the Brexit procedure whereby parliament will get a say in what to do next if May's plans fail to materialise and the next step would be to extend Article 50 via a bill.
But as of today, another amendment is gaining more traction among MPs in the UK which is the Spelman/Dromey amendment to rule out a no-deal Brexit option. That has already garnered the support of around 115 MPs earlier today. The Cooper amendment has about 78 signatures thus far.
If May isn't looking to delay Brexit or renegotiate terms with the EU, a second referendum looks to be the most likely option at this point.
