UK February Halifax house prices +5.9% vs +0.1% m/m expected

Latest data released by Halifax - 7 March 2019

  • Prior -2.9%; revised to -3.0%
  • House prices +2.8% vs +1.0% 3m/y
  • Prior +0.8%

A notable improvement and it is the first time since October that house prices have grown on an annual, quarterly and monthly basis. This sees the average dwelling price rise to £236,800 for February. Despite Brexit uncertainty proving to be a drag to the UK housing market, the data suggests that there is some resilience at least.
