UK CBI November retailing reported sales 19 vs 10 expected

Latest data released by CBI - 27 November 2018

  • Prior 5
  • Total distributive reported sales 18
  • Prior 17

The readings here are an indicator of short-term trends in the retail and wholesale sector of the UK economy. Retail balance jumps and that's a positive but the report here is offset a little by the fact that the quarterly retail business situation for the next three months comes in at -9, the weakest since May 2017.

It's not a major release by any means but once again it highlights there are some worries still to be had in the UK economy if you dig a little deeper beyond the headlines. GBP/USD still sits at 1.2756, lower on the day. EUR/GBP remains near the highs at 0.8873.
