The readings here are an indicator of short-term trends in the retail and wholesale sector of the UK economy. That is a really poor report as retail sales sentiment falls at its fastest rate since 2017.
CBI cites that Brexit uncertainty and pressures on household income and digital disruption are among the factors weighing here. Not a major data point but certainly not one that will reflect well on December retail sales data when the time comes.
