More skepticism about the prospects
Pres. Trump is speaking and he says:
- Will be great if summit with N. Korea happens in Singapore; if not, that is ok too
- He thinks N. Korean leader Kim is serious about denuclearization
- We're moving along on the summit
- There are certain conditions we want and if we do not get them, we will not have the meeting.
- If it does not happen now, maybe it happens another time
- Denuclearization must take place.
- There is no deal on ZTE. He is looking into it.
- There is a substantial chance the June summit with N. Korean's Kim will not work out.
- S. Korea, China and Japan will be willing to help and invest money to help make N. Korea great
- S. Korea's Moon may or may not have an upcoming meeting with Kim
- Disappointed with the change in attitude of Kim
- There was a change in attitude after Kim's second meeting with China's Xi. Call's Xi a "world class poker player"
- He is not blaming anyone, but not happy with change in attitude.
- Would like to think China's Xi is committed to peace
- When he thinks of trade with China, he also thinks about what China is doing to help with peace with N. Korea
- Sees very large fine for XTE. Could be $1.3B.
On China:
- He is not pleased with how trade talks went with China
- China talks were a start, is not satisfied
Although Trump says he is not blaming Xi for the N. Korea deterioration, he seems to be blaming China.
