Bloomberg report from earlier. USD/CAD falls
Trump wants to announce a preliminary NAFTA deal at a summit in Peru next week, according to three people cited by Bloomberg.
The summit begins April 13 and Trump wants to join leaders from Canada and Mexico to unveil the broad outlines of a new NAFTA deal while the finer points are left unfinished.
Eamonn reported the headline much earlier but Canadian traders appear to just be waking up to the news and USD/CAD has dropped down to 1.2840. After the initial report, Trump also threatened NAFTA because of migrants from Mexico crossing the US border.
