Trump reportedly willing to allow government shutdown over border wall

Politico reports

The report says that Trump is firm on Congress approving a $5 billion funding for the US-Mexico border wall and that he would be "totally willing" to shut down the government if things don't go his way on the matter. Trump is also reported to mention that the $5 billion would be just to cover the physical border and that "the number is larger for border security".

The key deadline here is 7 December as Congress is looking to pass several bills by then or otherwise face a risk of a funding lapse that will trigger a partial government shutdown. Markets are unphased by this so far as Trump has backed off on funding matters several times in the past but keep an eye out on this next week as it could potentially develop into something more substantial.
