- Representatives from the 12 countries negotiating the Trans Pacific Partnership free trade agreement, including Japan and the US, ended talks in Singapore on Tuesday without meeting its year-end deadline for completing the deal, The Nikkei Asian Review reports.
- The U.S. and emerging economy nations remained far apart on issues such as eliminating tariffs, protecting intellectual property and reforming state-owned enterprises, the report says.
- The ministers are expected to meet again early next year in hopes of smoothing out remaining obstacles to a final accord.
