Trade ideas thread - European session 7 June 2019

Daily thread to exchange ideas and to share your thoughts

Happy Friday, everyone! Welcome to the NFP waiting room and I hope you're all doing well as we get things going here on the session. Markets are generally in a slower mood to start the day with major currencies little changed for the most part and Treasury yields near flat levels as we begin European morning trade.

The swissie is the only notable mover so far, weakening slightly with EUR/CHF moving back towards the 1.1200 handle. The invisible hand at work again?

Anyway, I would expect the slow mood to continue as the two main events in markets today are the US non-farm payrolls and the US-Mexico trade talks; both of which will only come about in North American trading.

I reckon we'll see more of a steady jobs report from the US and that will offer markets little of anything new to work with. As such, I would expect cautious optimism to reign for the most part until we get more headlines from trade talks in Washington. It could be a frenetic end to the week for all we know if tariffs are set to be levied against Mexico on Monday.
