UK Conservatives maintain confidence
Theresa May has the backing of her party and of the DUP to govern but not to pass a Brexit deal. The quagmire continues.
May's Conservatives have 317 members and the DUP has 10 but a few members don't vote (like the Speaker) so 320 is the de facto majority. The result suggests all the available members from the Conservative and DUP voted for her.
This was completely in-line with what was expected.
The betting odds for her busting out were 100/1, so this isn't a surprise. Cable firmed slightly for a minute then gave back the gains. Last at 108.91.
May followed up the vote by inviting the opposition to begin negotiations with her tonight.
"I stand ready to work with every member of this House," she said.
Corbyn followed that by calling on May to rule out a no-deal Brexit.
