The stock market trifecta. All three indices are closing at record levels.

Nasdaq leads the way for the 2nd consecutive day

The US major indices are closing at record levels today. Yesterday the Nasdaq and the S&P closed at records. Today the trifecta was hit as the Dow joined the other two indices with record high closes.

  • The S&P is ending the session up 17.2 points or 0.64% at 2713.01. It is the first close above the 2700 level for that index
  • The NASDAQ composite index rose by 58.63 points or 0.84%. The index closed at 7065.53.
  • The Dow industrial average is closing up by 98.47 points or 0.4% at 24,922.54.

  • Alphabet of 1.64%
  • Netflix up 1.98%
  • Amazon up 1.18%
  • Nvidia 6.58%
  • Celgene of 2.81%
  • MasterCard 1.21%
  • Facebook up 1.79%
  • Micron up 3.0%
  • AMD up 5.19%
  • Broadcom was up 1.09%

The chip stocks were big gainers with the exception of Intel. Intel fell by -3.39% on the back of an article in PC Magazine about a security threat inherent in their chips which could slow processing power by up to 30%.

The other underachievers for the day include:

  • Apple fell -0.02%
  • Deutsche Bank -0.85%
  • Tesla -1.02%
  • Twitter -0.29%
  • Goldman Sachs -0.85%
