The USD up modestly against most currencies
As North American traders enter for the day, the JPY is the strongest, while the NZD is the weakest. The USD is mostly higher with modest gains with the exception of the JPY. The changes overall are somewhat limited. Below is a snapshot of the % changes of each of the major currencies vs. each other.
The GBPUSD does have the largest price reaction (85 pips) of the major pairs vs. the USD.
The GBPUSD has moved mostly lower, but has also bounced off the low swing area (see chart below).
In other markets today:
- Spot gold is trading down about $9.50 or -0.76% at $1255.50
- WTI crude is up $0.26 or 0.35% at $68.33
- Bitcoin is down -$40 at $6210. The digital currency is above its 100 hour MA at $6145 but below the 200 hour MA at $6409. Buyers need to hold the 100 hour MA if they have a chance of taking more control away from the sellers.
- In the pre-market, stock futures are implying a mixed opening with the Dow down about -3 points. S&P is near unchanged. The Nasdaq futures imply a rise of about 20 points
- US yields are lower. 2 year is down 1 bp to 2.524%. 10 year is down -1.1 bps to 2.869% and 30 year is down -0.5 bp at 3.019%
