Spain wants to be careful what it wishes for as if Scotland gets a vote to leave and does so, and then wants to join Europe, I'm sure the UK will give its backing and then call on Spain to do the same with Catalonia.
If the EU does use Gibraltar as a bargaining chip that will show how petty Europe has become, and my April fools story might become something believable.
