One week into the year, the loonie is on top
There are 51 more weeks to go this year but the Canadian dollar is off to a flying start. It was easily the top G10 FX performer with a 1.78% gain against the US dollar. The gain for the loonie is a bit of payback from last year where it was near the bottom of the pack, with only the Australian dollar trailing it. The Canadian dollar was aided by rising oil prices.
The laggard this week was the euro, which fell 0.56% against the dollar.
