Starting a parallel Brexit and new future deal talks are not possible says Donald Tusk

Here comes the backtracking

  • Talk will be difficult and sometimes confrontational

  • EU will not pursue a punitive approach to Brexit

  • Intends to visit May in London before April 29th EU summit (go long eggs ;-) )

  • Probably around Autumn the EU will assess whether Brexit talks have made sufficient progress

  • There's no such thing as a Brexit bill for the UK (IOU? MOU?)

The FT have the full guidelines from Europe that I reported on earlier.

For a full timeline of how Brexit will play out read this. This Tusk stuff is just the "noise" that we'll be getting endlessly from now on. The actual negotiations is where the real trading action will be.
