Spain's Socialist Party in a last ditch attempt to form a government 26 April
Lest we forget ( the election was on 20 Dec after all) Spain still has to form a government after PM Rajoy's conservative Popular Party came in first with 123 seats but lost the majority it had held since 2011.
The Socialist Party call today is a turn-around from its previous position.
Currently the King, Felipe VI is finishing two days of meetings by holding talks with the leaders of the four most voted parties, ending with acting PM Rajoy.
The formal deadline is 2 May but unless there is an agreement in the next few hours it will be technically impossible to hold a confidence vote to elect a new PM in time. If no deal can be reached then fresh elections will be held in June.
Meanwhile the euro is back in retreat after failing to breach the strong res/offers around 1.1300 that I highlighted earlier.
