Spain proposes Luis de Guindos as candidate for ECB vice president post

What a surprise...not!

de Guindos is the favourite to succeed current vice president Vitor Constancio on the ECB board when his term is due later this year.

Meanwhile, we have some comments from ECB's Lautenschaleger in the banking supervision conference saying that:

  • Banks must also prepare for hard Brexit
  • ECB won't tolerate 'empty shells' post-Brexit
  • Can't be sure of a Brexit transition period
