S&P 500 salvages the day, finishes above 200-day moving average

Index finishes lower but far from the lows

The S&P 500 closed down 6 points to 2629 after falling as low as 2594. That's a rebound of 35 points from the lows and also puts the index comfortably above the 200-day moving average, which his at 2614 today.

In other stock market news, Twitter just revealed it had a password 'glitch' and advised all users to change their passwords. Shares are down 3% after hours.
