September 2016 US consumer confidence report 27 September 2016
Prior 101.1
Current conditions 128.5 vs 123.0 prior. Revised to 125.3
Expectations 87.8 vs 86.4 prior. Revised to 86.1
Jobs hard to get 21.6 vs 23.4 prior. Revised to 22.8
1yr inflation expectations 5.0% vs 4.8% prior
That's a big big jump in confidence to the highest since August 2007. If that confidence was translating into things like retail sales, the US would probably be running at over 3% growth. It's not and it isn't and that's the Fed's dilemma. For example, under plans to buy within the next 6 months, nearly every category was lower.

The lower "jobs hard to get" component also shows that the labour market is still not tightening enough to see stronger wage growth.
