Republicans can afford to lose two votes
The updated US Senate bill is out and it contains a few perks in an attempt to get it over the finish line but it's on the razor's edge.
Republicans control the Senate, but only barely. They can afford to lose two votes and those already look like they're already gone. Rand Paul said the bill doesn't go far enough to repeal Obamacare and he said he will vote against it. Susan Collins, meanwhile, says too may people will lose healthcare and she's strongly hinted that she won't support it.
Others have indicated it's going to be a tough sell.
That said, the text of the new bill hasn't been seen my many, if not most, Republican Senators so we may get a much better idea in the next few hours and days.
Here's the text, it's called the "Better Care Reconciliation Act" and it's 172 pages long.
Update: Susan Collins says she's inclined to vote 'no' on the latest bill. Rand Paul has reconfirmed he will vote against it.
