Russia's Siluanov: We will consider extension of OPEC+ deal

Comments by Russia's first deputy prime minister, Anton Siluanov

Russia OPEC

As of now, Russia has refused to give a firm commitment on whether or not it will stay on board with the OPEC+ output cuts deal. The bloc is due to meet next month but there has been suggestions that Russia wants to postpone the meeting by a week or two, which hasn't been too welcome by other members.

Regardless, Russia has been a sleeping partner in the OPEC+ deal as they haven't lived up to expectations on reducing their own oil production. I can't see other OPEC+ members failing to agree on an extension but the bigger question for oil price sentiment is whether or not the extension will include Russia.

I guess we'll still have to wait and see.
