Markets are looking hopefully optimistic
US equity futures are trading near the highs for the day now after recovering from a slump in the early European morning, and the same can be said for European equities in general as well. Most European stock indices are in positive territory after starting on the back foot, aside from the UK FTSE which has been dragged lower by the strength in the pound today.
Otherwise, markets in general are looking a little more optimistic after some indecisive tones since Asian trading. Treasury yields are also mildly higher on the day and oil is also trading near the highs up by close to 1%.
That said, it's more of a case that markets have turned from looking at the glass as being half-empty to it being half-full now. There is still some uncertainty surrounding the progress of US-China trade talks following reports overnight and traders and investors will have to watch out for more developments on that in case it starts swinging risk sentiment around later today.
