Reuters report on a survey by the UK's Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC)
Worst result since June 2016 (when the Confederation began its surveys and also the month of the Brexit referendum)
- firms have scaled back sharply their hiring and investment plans
- hiring intentions weakened sharply
- For temporary staff, the survey showed outright cuts were likely
Not all gloom:
- more employers planned to increase rather than cut permanent staff
Adds the REC:
- "Lower use of temporary labor is a sign of lower demand"
