The but is, again, this is not fresh news - it was out yesterday:
- Reports of nearly 200 infected in Wuhan, China. Cases have also been reported. Cases have also been reported in Beijing and Guangdong, and further afield in Thailand and Japan.
This is being cited as the reason for the market moves. As I said in that post yesterday, Keep an eye on this.
Anyone remember the Ebola scare a few years ago. Same sort of thing - market dumpage before bounce back. Let's hope this too passes quickly before too many folks get ill and some even die.
China is about to witness the biggest (by far) yearly human migration as folks move around to visit relatives for Lunar New Year. This outbreak might put a dampener on this, which would be a negative for the spending on transport, restaurants and what have you.
