Record close for the Nasdaq, but off the highs. S&P leads the way.

Week closes with gains. Nasdaq leads that rally too.

The US major stock indices are ending the day with modest gains. The Nasdaq did close at a record up 6.67 points or 0.10%, but the all time high at 6460.84 remains a target for next week. The high for the day reached 6449.64

The other indices also rose today:

  • The S&P rose by 4.9 points or 0.20% to 2476.55. The high close for the index comes in at 2480.91. The all time high price comes in at 2490.87. The high price today reached 2480.38 - just short of the high close level
  • The Dow moved back above the 22K level to 22038.97, but is closing the week at 21987.56. That is still good for a gain of 39.46 up 0.18%

For the week, the Nasdaq led the way and had the best gain for the year. HMMMMM.

  • The Nasdaq is up 2.71% for the week. For the year to date, the tech heavy index is up 19.55%
  • The S&P index is up 1.37% for the week. For the year to date, the broad market index is up 10.62%
  • The Dow is up 0.80% for the week. For the year to date, the largest industrial stocks are up 11.26%.
