Pound pairs in stall mode as markets await any news of Haldane 11 July
I've just spoken with the BOE press office and it seems unlikely that Haldane has offered any thing of note in his introductory remarks at the low-key BOE event.
No text will be released by them as per my previous posts but we may still get something before it finishes at 11.15 GMT or indeed after as attendees drift out.
It just shows how robots and traders rely on news and headlines right now to trade from. Vultures hovering for any scrap of flesh.
GBPUSD currently frozen at 1.2905 and EURGBP at 0.8828
Next rhetoric risk comes from Dep Gov for mon pol Ben Broadbent now rescheduled for 12.30 GMT. As I said earlier his speech is the last from the current crop of 8 MPC members since the 5-3 vote last time out.
He's recently said that rate rises could not be ruled out but also expressed caution so the jury remains out on which way he might go today given his previously dovish stance.
BOE'S Broadbent -Dove still or more hawkish now ?
