US Justice Departments look at the Hillary Clinton's email investigation
- Comey's actions on Clinton email investigation deviated from the department's norms
- Comey was not motivated by political bias
- Felt that the prosecutorial decisions were consistent and not affected by bias or other improper actions
- However senior leaders handling of the Clinton case cast a cloud over the FBI and did lasting damage to their reputation
- Comey erred in his decision not to coordinate with the Justice Department at key moments in the Clinton email investigation
- The report also criticizes FBI agent Peter Strzok who exchanged anti-Trump text messages with former FBI lawyer Lisa page. However, they also found no evidence affected the investigative decisions
- Criticized FBI timing decision to put investigation of the the emails on Anthony Weiner's on the back burner in order to protect Clinton
- The report says that while it found Clinton's actions extremely careless, they would not recommend charges against her
- suggest that the FBI's actions helped Donald Trump become president by Comey talking publicly about Clinton's investigation while keeping secret investigation of Donald Trump in Russia.
Needless to say, the report will likely stir up many old wounds and despite the findings, continue the dialogue about Comey, the FBI credibility, the election, Clinton, Trump, etc., etc., etc.
