Portugal agrees to €4.7bn spending cuts with Troika

Agreeing to and doing are worlds apart, as we well know in European politics and policy, but Portuguese minister Poiares Maduro says they are fully committed to budget goals. A previous story in the press said that the government were considering reducing the spending cuts to €2bn. The 2014 budget is being drafted and is set to be presented in parliament on October 15.

Troika is booked in to do another review at the end of August.
