As expected.
The Senate has enough votes to confirm Mike Pompeo as the new Secretary of State. The path seems clear now for him to take over (as expected).
Recall, Pres. Trump sent Pompeo to N. Korea for a meeting with N. Korea's Kim. To deny or delay Trump's nomination would be somewhat obstructive - especially since he is one of a few who have had direct contact and all seemed to be on target for more negotiations between Trump and the N. Korean leader.
Now on the other extreme is Dr. Ronny Jackson who withdrew from his nomination for VA Secretary. Jackson was alleged to be loose on distributing medications. He also was alleged to be intoxicated on the job. Finally, he had little experience in running a large organization. Dr. Jackson denies the allegations but does not want to be a distraction to the President.
